San Diego Sewer Backups: On Prevention and Water Damage Restoration

No matter how deep or shallow they are, floods can be devastating to any home. Even a plumbing leak that turns your kitchen, bathroom or basement into a large puddle can bring substantial destruction to your property. Furthermore, the effects that would linger after the flood gets cleared up—like rot, foul odors, mold and other signs of water damage—can be difficult to deal with. One of the common causes of flooding is blocked catch basin grates in the streets. When the San Diego rainy season rolls in, the storm runoff can push leaves, trash and other debris toward this catch basin, which would prevent drainage of rainwater into the city sewers. Of course, when the storm is too strong, the amount of precipitation will be enough to overload the sewer systems, which would result in flooding.
